I've been busy lately so haven't been able to post as much as I'd like, but i have been writing pretty consistently for the past couple months. I'm drawing as much as I am writing, but since I haven't got a good way to scan in the images I am making, we'll just stick to the poetry for now! Here are a few verses I came up with a few weeks ago when ODB had the prompt "Insects and Creepy Crawlies"
across the blanket
a picnic feast awaits
the intrepid ant
***
bare skin attracts the
attentions of amorous
lady mosquitoes
***
one
fat
lazy
fly buzzing
against the glass pane
befuddled by the barrier
***
Dragonfly
terror of the sky
the dragon chomps another
pesky mosquito
***
and here are a couple random ones that I came up with on some lazy afternoons...
melodious notes
drift from silver wind chimes
on the orange breeze
***
tiger lilies purr
ferocious feline flowers
napping in the sun
***
in distress or not
damsels are often captured
by pink snapdragons
***
like a movie scene
white petals fall around us;
my heart should soar but
unkind reality sets in;
you are not the one...

Contrast
This week's ODB prompt is "Compare and Contrast"
***
like a flash of light
your image lingers, etched
on my inner eye
***
a sudden sharp pain
didn't know I was lonely
until I met you...

Simple
The prompt for Sunday Scribblings this week was "Simple".
Simple
They say I am simple
because I sit upon a hill
smiling very slightly
and sitting very still.
I suppose I do look silly
watching in silence here
but it's clear to me
that my eyes see
what makes this world so dear.
They say that I am simple
because I never speak.
Softly I observe the world
and with my soul I seek
quiet moments of warmth and peace,
serenity that is so rare
when the sun sinks into the sea
or the wind makes music in the leaves of a tree
I put down the burdens I bear.
So let them say I'm simple
complicated is too loud
It's impossible to hear anything
in the din from the crowd.
But perhaps one day they'll tumble,
One day they'll come to see
in the sparkle of the stream
or the light of a moonbeam
sometimes its good to be simple like me.

Viewpoints (one deep breath)
So I've been trying to think of some different ways to look at the prompt from One Deep Breath this week; one came out a little introspective, while the other is the result of my having gone diving this week. Hope you like them!

Sleep - One Deep Breath
This week's One Deep Breath prompt is sleep and God knows I like to sleep, so here are a few stabs at the topic!
(c) 2007 aquamarine
Summer Song
my eyes half-lidded
cicadas drone incessant
summer lullaby
Rest
tumult of the day
fades away before healing dreams
my troubled mind rests
This last one I wrote a few weeks ago, but seems to fit the theme this week...
Last Fight of the Day
late night resistance
cunning sleep corrodes senses
unwilling eyes close
For more restful poems take One Deep Breath...

Smoke Rising
defiant, I turn
away from the bitter smoke
of the bridge I burned
Gertie
Galloping Gertie
swept off your feet by the wind
you thrilled to the touch
that made you shimmy and twirl
you only wanted to dance
For those of you who haven't heard of Galloping Gertie, she was a famous bridge in Tacoma, WA, USA, that collapsed spectacularly in a windstorm in the 1940s. Definitely one of my favorite bridges, even though she's gone! Do a web search and you will find lots of pics and even a video of the collapse, which is worth seeing if you've never seen concrete and steel dance!Galloping Gertie

Wine and Words
Road Trip

One Glass Too Many
room spins away
red wine fills my head with down

***
Life or Something Like It
on the carousel
world blurs to incoherence
why can't I get off?
***
Grand Canyon
look over the edge
see the canyon floor below
red rocks fill my mind
***
oh, iPod
soft buzz of music
my ipod plays without me!
favorite song wasted
***
Last Fight of the Day
late night resistance

unwilling eyes close
Yeah, so went a little 'ku crazy last night after a couple glasses of wine. I'm kind of all over the place subject-wise, but sometimes themes are over-rated!

Sounds of Spring -ODB
Spring rain

Serenity/Meditations
I am trying to focus on calm and serenity for the One Deep Breath prompt this week, but am finding myself with images that are more in motion than I would normally associate with this theme. So bear with me a little, and I'll try to get it right...
Frog Meditation
rain in a chipped cup
past the white porcelain edge
the frogs eyes peer out
Fish Meditation
white petals floating
koi swim in stately spirals
my thoughts turn to you
Night Meditation
the broken mirror
reflecting silver moonlight
on your sleeping form

Finding Serenity
look
smile
caress
whispered phrase
reminds me to breathe
draws me back to life unfinished

A Spicy Fib
Ok, you weren't lying! The Spicy Fib is quite addictive! Here are my attempts, one for each time of day! ;)
Morning Fib

first light
time to run
frost on the window
so much nicer to stay in bed
Noon Fib

crunch
lovely
pastrami
spicy mustard burns
savory delightful repast
Evening Fib

pink
orange
clouds drifting
fading sapphire sky
tropical sunset reflection
